Jamaica Confirms First Case Of Monkeypox
The first case of the Monkeypox virus has been confirmed in Jamaica.
Health and Wellness Minister Dr Christopher Tufton made the announcement during a press conference earlier today (July 6).
According to Dr Tufton, the case is a man who recently returned to the island from the United Kingdom.
Tufton also stated that the man went to the public health system on July 5, and arrived on the island five days prior.
He said the patient has been isolated and his close contacts are in quarantine.
Dr Tufton also said contract tracing will continue once it is deemed necessary.
