Elaine Thompson Starts 2022 In Spanking Form!

Jamaica’s two time Olympic sprint double gold medallist Elaine Thompson-Herah is in good spirits following her 2022 season opener at the most recent staging of the Queens Grace Jackson development meet on the weekend at Stadium east.

Thompson opened with a 7.19 seconds clocking over 60 meters against an unfavourable 1.9 meter per second wind reading.

She was challenged early by Shashalee Forbes of Sprintec but shifted into higher gear midway to achieve a comfortable win.

Remona Burchell, also of Sprintec, closed finished second in 7.29, while Forbes had to settle for third in 7.36.

  

This was Thompson-Herah’s first 60 meters race since 2019 when she ran 7.24 seconds at the same meet.

Thompson recently left the MVP track club and is scheduled to compete over 60 meters at the Indoor Grand Prix series n Birmingham on February 19.
