The West Indies, currently struggling to defend their ICC T20 World Cup crown in the Far East, need the time to hone their skills for when England visit the Caribbean for T20 Internationals (T20Is) and Test matches next year.
England, who humiliated the Windies by whittling them out for just 55 in their T20 World Cup opener, are set to compete in their maiden five-match T20I Series against the WI.
The Kensington Oval, located on the outskirts of Barbados capital of Bridgetown, will play host to all five contests that are scheduled to be played from 22-30 January 2022. This includes two consecutive weekends of back-to-back T20 cricket.
The Windies welcome England back to the Caribbean for a three-match Test Series in March 2022, a month after their tour of India.
This trio of Tests is for the newly-created Richards-Botham Trophy, which honours Antigua’s Sir Vivian Richards and Lord Ian Botham who used to both represent Somerset at cricket in England. The matches will be played n Antigua, Barbados and Grenada respectively.
