Everything You Need For The Perfect Poker Night With Your Friends

Nothing makes for a better night than some booze and a few rounds of Texas Hold’em poker. Whether you are a pro at the game or are a newbie wanting to practice with a few friends, there are some essentials to host the perfect poker night with your friends. Here is all that you need to be a respected and gracious host and make your poker night a success. 

A Poker Table

While a permanent freestanding poker table will surely add to the ambiance and enjoyment of the night, it may not be possible for you to dedicate a separate room in your house for it. Accordingly, converting any other sturdy table and using a table topper would be your most convenient and cheapest bet.

The classic round shape makes for the perfect poker table as it allows everyone to sit comfortably around the table and makes it easy to deal out cards. No player would have a corner sticking into their stomach and can reach the middle with ease. Make sure the table is large enough to accommodate everyone while having some room for extra items like ashtrays and drinks. 

Set of Poker Chips

Next up, you want a decent set of numbered poker chips for your esteemed guests. A standard chipset of 300 chips would do, and you should aim for at least 35 chips for each player. 

Poker chips come in three materials. Plastic chips are the cheapest, but they do get the job done. But if you want to add a touch of professionalism to the night, or plan to make the game a regular part of your social calendar, then consider investing in ceramic or clay chips. 

Playing Cards

To keep the flow and pace of the game moving, it is a good idea to have at least a deck of cards or two on hand so you can have one shuffled beforehand. Buy plastic cards as they are easier to shuffle, less likely to rip apart or get damaged from spilled drinks. 

Also, if a card goes missing or gets damaged during the game, you will need a replacement deck of cards. Therefore, consider getting three decks at a minimum. 

Snacks and Beverages

One of the most central aspects of a good poker night is a bottle of whiskey and some flavorful snacks to munch. Therefore, you must have an adequate supply of drinks and some light foods like cookies and chips to sustain your friends over several hours. 

Most poker games run into the wee hours of the morning. Accordingly, have some soft drinks around the corner for the teetotallers and others to keep a clear head as they play. 

Some Classy Music

There is a little more that goes into a memorable poker night than meets the eye. Play some classy jazz music in the background to set the mood and add to the ambiance. Spotify and Pandora have plenty of free playlists for you to discover.
