Usain Bolt, the legendary retired track star, announced on Father’s Day (20 June) the arrival of twin boys that have been named Thunder Bolt and St. Leo Bolt.

The 34-year-old Jamaican icon took to the social media platform of Instagram to champion the news of their arrival, posting a lightning bolt emoji next to each of his children’s names.

Last year his long-term partner Kasi Bennett welcomed their first child, Olympia Lightning, yet the couple have not revealed exactly when these twins were born. Their daughter was born last May, with her unusual name publicly announced two months later.

The 11-time sprinting World Champion, who retired from athletics in 2017, was nicknamed ‘Lightning Bolt’ for his remarkable achievements and still holds world records at both 100m and 200m. Usain St. Leo Bolt is the full name of the fastest man in history, who was was born in the small town of Sherwood Content that comprises adjoining villages of Content and Sherwood in the Parish of Trelawny.

Bolt has two statues of him on the island, both designed and created by sculptor Basil Watson, in Falmouth’s Water Square and in Statue Park at Kingston’s National Stadium respectively.

The eight-time Olympic champion remains the only man to have won a trio of 100m Olympic titles and capture 23 gold major gold medals during his illustrious career. Last year he mooted a return to the track for the 2020 Games in Japan, which have been delayed until this summer.

Yet he has been has been extremely busy since hanging up his spikes. He tried to kick off a career as a professional football player, having trials in Australia and then turning down a two-year deal with a top flight Maltese team that would have meant playing in the coveted Champions League. He announced he was leaving professional sports in 2019 and since then various business ventures have taken up most of his time.

His infamous party nights, especially in Jamaica, seem to be behind him after becoming a father last year. With the addition of these twins he will certainly be in hot water with his partner if he starts partying on again.
