79 New Covid-19 Cases Recorded Locally

79 more persons have tested positive for COVID-19, increasing the island’s case tally to 48,180.

The new cases are comprised of 41 are females and 38 are males, with ages ranging from 1 to 95 years.

A breakdown by parish reveals that St. Catherine recorded the highest number of cases with 28, followed by Kingston and St. Andrew with 20.

St. Thomas had 8, St. Mary and St. James had 5 each, Clarendon had 4, St. Elizabeth and Westmoreland had 3 each, St. Ann had 2, and Hanover had 1 case.

  

Manchester, Portland and Trelawny recorded no new case.

The positivity rate is currently 11.2%

Aa 58-year-old male from St. Mary is the most recent person to succumb to COVID-19 pushing the death toll to 935.

162 persons are currently hospitalised with 43 patients moderately ill and 12 critically ill.

155 persons have recovered from the virus, pushing total recoveries to 24, 528.

There are 22, 348 active cases.
