Gordon “Butch” Stewart Has Died

Jamaican hotelier Gordon ‘Butch’ Stewart, has died.

He passed away at the age of 79 in the United States on Monday evening.

He had reportedly been suffering from an undisclosed illness for some time.

Stewart was the founder, owner and chairman of Sandals Resorts, Beaches Resorts, and their parent company Sandals Resorts International, as well as The ATL Group and its subsidiaries Appliance Traders and The Jamaica Observer.

  

His businesses provide employment for thousands of people in the Caribbean across various industries including hospitality, restaurant, automotive, retail, and media.

He has received several international awards recognising his amazing business and philanthropic work and accomplishments, including his achievements in the field of hospitality, in which was the regional giant.
