Tropical Storm Gonzalo Expected To Become Hurricane As It Churns Toward The Caribbean
Tropical Storm Gonzalo formed on Wednesday and is expected to become the first hurricane of the season.
A hurricane watch has been issued for St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Barbados as Gonzalo could strengthen into a hurricane within 24 hours.
A watch is typically issued 48 hours before tropical storm force winds are anticipated to reach a location, according to America’s National Hurricane Center.
At 8 p.m. Thursday, Gonzalo was 775 miles east of the Windward Islands as it continued along its northwest trajectory toward the Windward Islands with maximum sustained wind speeds of 60 mph.
