PM Announces All Island Curfew To Help Curb Spread Of COVID-19

Effective April 1, the Government of Jamaica will be imposing an island-wide curfew, lasting for a period of seven days, in the first instance.

The curfew will be in effect between 8 pm each evening until 6 am the following day.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness made the announcement while speaking at a press conference at Jamaica House on Monday evening.

The prime minister noted that an increase in movement throughout the country on weekends has been observed even though the majority of Jamaicans appear to be adhering to movement restrictions.

  

To date, Jamaica has recorded 36 cases of COVID-19.

Globally at least 803,100 COVID-19 cases have been confirmed with at least 39,000 deaths linked to the disease.

To date, there has been one COVID-19 related death in Jamaica.
