Jamaica Closes Sea And Airports, COVID-19 Cases Rise To 19
Effective 11:59 PM on Saturday, March 21, 2020, and for a period of fourteen (14) days in the first instance, Jamaica’s air and seaports will be closed to incoming passenger traffic.
Outgoing passenger traffic will be allowed.
Cargo will not be affected.
Prime Minister Andrew Holness made the announcement on Friday afternoon during a press conference at Jamaica House.
Mr Holness also announced that Jamaica’s tally of COVID-19 cases has risen to 19, up from 16.
As of March 21, 2020, there are over 280,000 confirmed coronavirus cases globally and at least 11,800 COVID-19 related deaths.
Jamaica has so far recorded one COVID-19 related death.
