Brothers To Be Deported To The UK After 20 Year Overstay In Jamaica

Two brothers, Akim and Jason Bonnie are to be removed from the island and returned to England after living here illegally for over two decades.

Senior Parish Judge, Vaughn Smith gave the deportation order in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Wednesday.

Lawmen discovered the siblings had overstayed their visit to the island by more than  20 years when they were picked up in a Zone of Special Operation (ZOSO) in Denham Town, West Kingston.

Akim and Jason Bonnie are now 26 and 24 years of age respectively. Akim arrived on the island in November 1995 and his younger sibling arrived in February 1997.

The siblings were still boys when they were abandoned by their mother and left in the care of their grandmother who was unable to assist in their return to their homeland.

Judge Smith confirmed that the British High Commission will handle the brothers’ travel to the UK.
