Alvas Powell Joins David Beckham’s Inter Miami

Reggae Boy Alvas Powell has joined David Beckham’s newly formed Major League Soccer (MLS) club Inter Miami FC.

The 25-year-old defender leaves FC Cincinnati to join the club. During the 2019 MLS season, Powell made 13 appearances for FC Cincinnati, including 10 starts.

Inter Miami FC is due to begin play in Major League Soccer (MLS) in 2020.

The club  will play in Fort Lauderdale until their new stadium, to be known as Miami Freedom Park, is completed in 2022.

  

The current proposal is for a 25,000-seat stadium that would form part of Freedom Park, a mixed-use complex on the present site of the city-owned Melreese Country Club near the Miami International Airport.

Inter Miami co-owner Beckham will see his club take on his former club LA Galaxy for the new franchise’s MLS home opener.
