Gov’t Signs Contract to Build 1650 Homes In St Catherine

A joint venture agreement involving the Ministry of Housing, China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) and the Housing Authority of Jamaica (HAJ) was signed on Tuesday morning (October 15).

Per the conditions of the agreement, 1,650 housing units will be built in Catherine Estates, St. Catherine.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness said the project must not be confused with the Bernard Lodge development which will be the largest housing construction in St. Catherine since 1992.

Construction of the homes which are to be completed over a four year period will commence before the end of November at a cost of JMD$ 9.5 billion.
