JFF Calls For Women And Families To Come Out In Support Of The Reggae Girlz

Khadija “Bunny” Shaw heads a list of 15 players who were part of preparations for or were in the 23-member squad for the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup who have been called up and confirmed for participation in Group B of the Olympic Qualifiers, Preliminary Round, Caribbean leg which will kick off on September 30th at the National Stadium Jamaica.

The full squad will be twenty players and will include a new call up from the local Women’s Premier League.

The Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) is anticipating exciting and highly competitive football as a number of the players who will be on show have been doing well in their respective clubs since leaving the World Cup and participating in the Pan am Games in Peru. Team captain and defender Konya Plummer was named American Athletic Conference Defender of the Week on September 11 as she helped anchor her institution, the UCF Knights defense in a game against the Florida Gators.

Striker Khadija Shaw scored a brace in her debut with French Club des Girondins de Bordeaux which helped to propel a win for her club.

Deneisha Blackwood played a full 90 minutes in a UEFA Women’s Champions League, Round 32 fixture on September 11. Deneisha plays for SK Slavia Praha.

  

The Jamaica Football Federation is making a special appeal to Jamaican women to come to the National Stadium during the period September 30-October 8 at 6:30 pm when the Senior Reggae Girlz begin their Olympic journey. Bring the entire family, the JFF appeals.

Tickets will be on sale at the venue on match day at $1,000 per person.
