Jamaican hot-shot off to flyer in France

Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw, Jamaica’s Reggae Girlz’ all-time leading goal scorer, made an impressive debut for Girondins de Bordeaux with a two-goal salvo on Saturday (24 August).

Shaw, who signed a two-year deal with the French top-flight club just before the FIFA World Cup finals, notched a brace in the 4-1 Division 1 Féminine triumph over FC Fleury 91.

The 22-year-old followed up her two goals in a recent friendly against Spanish outfit Athletic Bilbao by scoring in the 75th minute and at the last gasp over the weekend.

Spanish Town-born Shaw, the first Jamaican female footballer to play professionally in France, was snapped up after notching 27 goals in 35 games last season for the University of Tennessee in the United States.
