A Jamaican man is being labelled a hero and a good Samaritan after he courageously rescued a young girl who was about to be attacked by a dog.

Vincent Johnson recently took matters into his own hands when he realised that a little girl was likely moments away from becoming the victim of a vicious attack by a pit bull at the Okeeheelee Dog Park in West Palm Beach, FL (USA).

The pit bull had reportedly just killed a dog – a Yorkie before redirecting its rage to people nearby including the young girl.

Johnson recalled his frightening encounter with the vicious animal while speaking with a reporter.

He is quoted by CBS12 as saying: “Fighting a dog like this would probably mean a finger or my neck or an eye,” he said. “But a little girl’s life? You don’t really weigh that.”

Johnson who stands at 6 feet 7 inches reportedly sustained deep cuts to his neck and hands while attempting to subdue the animal but was able to get the dog under control until Palm Beach County Fire Rescue arrived.
