Reggae Boyz to Kick Off Gold Cup Campaign Against Curacao

Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz are scheduled to depart the island today to participate in the 2017 Gold Cup.

The team will face Curaçao in their opening game on Sunday (July 9) at 5 pm at the Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego California.

Last month Curaçao dethroned Jamaica to become the new CFU Caribbean Cup Champions.

In the previous Gold Cup (2015), Jamaica created history by becoming the first Caribbean team to the final of the prestigious competition.

The team that reached the final consisted of several players from the English Premiership and Championship teams.

However the current team may prove to be short on quality as it is mainly comprised of players who ply their trade in US Major League Soccer and local Premier League Players.

Jamaica has been placed in group C alongside El Salvador, Curaçao and CONCACAF kings Mexico.
