Alia Atkinson Up For Female Athlete of the Month Award
Atkinson nominated for female Athlete of the Month award
Jamaica’s ace swimmer Alia Atkinson is currently one of six athletes who have been nominated for Female Athlete of the Month by the United States Sports Academy.
Atkinson was shortlisted for the coveted designation following her tremendous performances during the month of October.
On October 26, Atkinson smashed the 50m short course breaststroke record with a 28.64 clocking at the Tokyo leg of the FINA World Cup Tour.
The 27-year-old shaved 16 total hundredths off of the previous mark of 28.80 set by the American – Jessica Hardy in Berlin in 2009.
Public votes will be used to determine who wins the award.
