Man Attempts to Kill His Family, Commits Suicide in Clarendon

On Tuesday (October 4), a man was reportedly pronounced dead at his Longville Park home in the parish of Clarendon after allegedly committing suicide.

The deceased is Sean Sappleton, a 40-year-old truck driver and taxi operator.

It is believed Sappleton attempted to kill his family prior to his death, but was unsuccessful.

According to The Observer, Sappleton reportedly locked himself and his wife and two daughters inside their two-bedroom home in Longville Park.

He reportedly doused the premises with a flammable substance and set the building on fire.

However, quick action on the part of neighbours led to his wife and children being spared, as they pulled his family out of the burning building through a window.

They were taken to hospital where the police say they have been admitted in serious condition.
