Former Calabar High Player Joins the Miami Heat!

Miami Heat Signs Jamaican 

Vashil Fernandez, a professional basketball player and former Calabar High School centre recently signed a contract to play for the popular NBA team – the Miami Heat.

The Miami HEAT announced his signing on Monday (October 17), however, as per club policy, terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

The 24-year-old, who stands at 6 feet, 10 inches is the all-time leading shot blocker at Valparaiso University.

  

Fernandez played all four seasons with the Crusaders appearing in 131 games.

He averaged 4.7 points, 5.1 rebounds and two blocks while shooting 54 per cent from the field.

As a senior, Fernandez led the NCAA in blocks per game (3.31) and was named the Horizon League Defensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive season.

Fernandez will wear the number 14 jersey for the Heat.
