Atkinson Gets Performance of the Week Award After Tying World Record

Jamaica’s ace swimmer Alia Atkinson recently received the Swimming World Performance of the Week award for her world record equalling performance on the FINA World Cup Circuit in Paris.

Atkinson was scintillating as she swam 1:02.36 seconds in the 100 meters breaststroke to match her previous record from the 2014 Short Course World Championships in Doha.

Atkinson’s 2014 World Championship win in the event made her the first black woman to ever win a world title in swimming.

Her victory saw Jamaica obtain it’s first ever gold swimming medal in the World Championships.
