Gold, Bronze Medals For Jamaica in Women’s 100m Final – Rio Games
Jamaica claimed two medals in the women’s 100m final at the Olympic Games just moments ago courtesy of Elaine Thompson and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce.
Thompson was superb in her run as she managed to place some distance between herself and the rest of the field just prior to crossing the finish line for Gold.
Her winning time was 10.71s.
Tori Bowie of the United States finished second in 10.83s.
Jamaica’s ‘Pocket Rocket’, Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce was third with a time of 10.86s.
Though Fraser-Pryce fought valiantly for her well deserved third place finish, she appeared to have a little luck on her side as she crossed the line approximately a millisecond faster than Marie-Josee Ta Lou of Cote d’Ivoire to win the bronze.
The electrifying Dutch athlete Dafne Schippers finished fifth in 10.90s.
Michelle-Lee Ahye of Trinidad and Tobado was 6th in 10.92.
English Gardner of the United States was 7th in 10.94, while Jamaica’s Christania Williams was 8th in 11.80s.
