7 Athletes in Men’s 100m Semis Were Born in Jamaica

Jamaica has for some time been regarded as the sprint capital of the world.

The United States was formerly king of the track but Jamaica has in recent years consistently outdone the world super power at most major sprinting events.

It is therefore understandable why an increasing number of countries are investing heavily in luring athletes born in Jamaica to represent them.

Current rules do not allow more than three athletes to participate in any single event at the Olympics.

However, seven athletes who were actually born in Jamaica will be participating in the men’s 100m semi-finals scheduled to take place tonight (August 14) at the Rio Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil,

The three representatives for Jamaica are Nickel Ashmeade, Yohan Blake and Usain Bolt.

The other Jamaican born athletes who will be competing are: Asuka Antonio Cambridge, Kemarley Brown, Andrew Fisher, and Jak Ali Harvey.

Cambridge represents Japan, Kemarley Brown and Andrew Fisher both represent Bahrain, while Harvey represents Turkey.
