Online Fund Set Up to Return Wendell Henry’s Body to Jamaica
A Jamaican man who left the island at the start of the year with high hopes of making a new life in the United States has died after collapsing at a gym in the state of New Jersey.
Family members and friends of Wendell Henry are now understandably overcome with grief following his sudden passing.
An enormous financial burden has also been placed on the family to gather the funds required to have his body returned to Jamaica and to pay for funeral arrangements.
Henry’s brother, Evrol Martin stated that his death was hard to swallow describing him as “a young healthy man with a bright future”.
Wendell was only 27 years old at the time of his passing.
Martin and his wife have created a GoFundMe account which they hope will help the family to accrue the funds necessary to have Wendell’s body transported to Jamaica.

“My name is Evrol Martin and I currently live in New York with my wife Simone Martin and two young boys who are 7 and 5 years old. My brother Wendell Henry riding the horse recently arrived to USA from Jamaica to start a new life for himself only 6 months ago!
Tragically on June 7th he went to the gym did his set of chest flyes stood up and immediately drop to the ground and started to have seizures. He was rushed to the hospital where he suffered 2 cardiac arrest and 17 shocks to the heart. Yesterday we had to make the hard decision to pull him off life support as he was deemed clinical brain dead.
As you can imagine the whole family is in complete shock and his family and friends need closure in Jamaica! It is hard for all of us to swallow that he was a young healthy man with a bright future and now he is gone. The majority of his family(Mother, Father, Grandmother, sisters, brother and nieces and nephews) are down in Jamaica and would not have the ability to fly up here to say their farewells as they do not have visas! “
