Young West Indies Team Wins World Cup

The under-19 West Indies team has beaten the pre-tournament favourites India to earn their first ICC Under-19 World Cup title.

This following an impressive half-century from Keacy Carty.

His unbeaten run helped the young team chase down a tricky target to earn a five-wicket victory in what proved to be a tense final on Sunday.

With only three balls to spare, the young ‘Windies’ were able to reach 146-runs for victory.

India was dismissed for 145 runs in 45.1 overs but gave a valiant effort to defend there modest total.

At one stage of the contest India had reduced the West Indies to 77 for 5 wickets (29th over).

This victory for the West Indies ends India’s 15-match winning streak and also gives the West Indies a first major title at any level since Darren Sammy’s senior team won the ICC World T20 in Sri Lanka nearly four years ago.
