Evidence of Illegal Voting Practices Surfaces Online?

Dennis Meadows, the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) candidate for North Trelawny has highlighted at least one case of alleged electoral irregularity in that constituency.

The candidate shared an image and highlighted what he  indicated to be either a pre-marked ballot for his People’s National Party (PNP) opponent, Victor Wright, or a photograph of a ballot that was cast for Wright in Monday’s voting.

“This has been doing the rounds on social media (since Monday), which is cause for concern,” commented Meadows.

“Either this is a pre-marked ballot, or a phone or camera was allowed to be taken into the polling booth during the EOJ (Electoral Office of Jamaica)/security (forces’ voting yesterday, which are both illegal,” added the JLP representative.

According to Loop Jamaica, there have been other reports or allegations of planned electoral fraud in Thursday’s polls, including the JLP’s charge that polling ink was stolen from the EOJ’s allocation for the Election Day and security forces’ polling on Monday, to facilitate vote buying ahead of the polls.
