Two Die in Runaway Bay Accident

Two men succumbed to injuries they received during a motor vehicle accident along the Pear Tree Bottom Main Road in Runaway Bay, St. Ann just before Christmas day.

The fatal accident took place on Monday morning (December 24).

According to Irie FM, one of those killed has been identified as Donovan Thompson, of Bennin Road, Brown’s Town, in the parish.

The other person still has not been identified.

Reports are that about 10:48 am, Thompson, who operates a taxi, was driving a silver Toyota wish motor car along the roadway, with three passengers aboard.

Head of the St. Ann police Superintendent Wayne Cameron says initial reports are that the driver fell asleep at the wheel.

The car then drifted out of its lane and collided head on into a Noranda bauxite water truck, which was being driven in the opposite direction.

The injured persons were taken to hospital where Thompson and the male passenger were pronounced dead.
