Make Boxing Fair! Angry Fans Say Jamaica’s ‘Axeman’ Was Robbed of Win (Video)

Jamaica’s ‘Axeman’ – Nicholas Walters has high expectations for the coming year.

On the heels of a highly controversial draw decision in a fight that has been called ‘the robbery of the year”  against American Jason Sosa,  Walters arrived in Jamaica on Saturday for an extended holiday.

According to the StarWalters stated :

“I will be in Jamaica for about a month. I will be taking it easy for the first week or so, just relaxing after my fight with Sosa. After that, I will be getting back into training with my dad, as I cannot afford to get out of shape now, as 2016 will be a big year for me.”

Many believe Walters was cheated out of a win in his December 19 encounter against Sosa.

It was a fight most boxing pundits seemingly believed Waters comfortably won except the three judges thought that Walters had won. One judge had Sosa as the winner 96-94, while the other two judges scored it 95-95, for a majority draw decision.

Despite the controversial decision, Walters remains upbeat and has resolved to be more aggressive in future fights. When asked what he has learnt from this experience, Walter’s stated  “Knockout all my opponents to avoid any more bad decisions”.

His father, Job, who returned to Jamaica with him after being in his corner for the fight said, “It was a very poor decision. That is behind us now, and we are looking to the future.”

The senior Walters added: “I think that it was a blessing in disguise, as we got more publicity from this bad decision than when Nicholas beat Donaire to become super champion. It has been good, and the important thing is that he is still unbeaten.”

Numerous boxing fans have expressed their outrage over the result on various online platforms.
