Bolt Named Male Athlete of the Year By International Sports Press Association
Jamaica’s Usain Bolt is ending 2015 on a high note after earning another award for his stellar achievements throughout the year.
The International Sports Press Association (AIPS) America (grouping of Latin American Sports Journalists) named Bolt its Male Athlete of the Year, along with Cuba’s pole vaulter Yarisley Silva Rodriguez who was recognised as the Female Athlete of the Year.
In August of this year, Bolt won what many analysts considered the most difficult race of his career when he successfully defended his titles in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m events at the IAAF World Championships in Beijing China.
Bolt was also named Caribbean Sportsman of the Year for 2015 by the Caribbean Sports Journalists’ Association (CASJA).
Silva won the pole vault medals at the Pan American Games earlier this year and also narrowly escaped elimination to clear 4.90 for the podium in Beijing.
AIPS selected the Chilean national football team as the best in 2015 and the media center at the Panamerican Games in Toronto as the best of this year.
