Sangster International Airport Closed After Fire On Plane

All flights scheduled to land at the Sangster International Airport in St James are currently being diverted to the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston after a reported fire on a plane today.

According to the Observer, 160 passengers and six crew members passengers were today evacuated from Delta flight 304 at the Montego Bay airport after smoke was seen coming from a section of the aircraft.

The flight, which was scheduled for departure to the United States, came to a halt about 3:30 pm after the pilot reportedly observed the smoke.

It was later discovered that there was a fire in the cargo section which damaged luggage.

  

The fire was later extinguished and police this afternoon also confirmed that no one was injured.

The MBJ Airports Limited has asked travelling public to contact their respective airline directly regarding flight operations.
