Jamaican Creates History By Becoming the Caribbean’s First Certified 7 Star Butler
It’s no secret, whenever we Jamaicans set our minds to do something, we do it BIG.
Now a young Jamaican Butler has elevated himself to the top of the Caribbean Butlers lists.
Oneil Linton was born and raised in Litchfield Trelawny by his mother, grandmother and aunts who helped shape him to become the great young man he is today.
He was trained as a butler in Bangkok Thailand by the Queen of England’s former butler – Josephine Ive, who is credited with being the UK’s first female butler working with British High Court Judges.
Oneil attended the Asia Butler Academy and Magnums Butlers International Australia – the only butler training organization to train and certify 7 star butlers in the world. If that’s not impressive enough, he became the only butler in the Caribbean to receive the Magnums Butler 7 Star Service Excellence Award for his outstanding service in the hotel and hospitality industry for over 7 years and for training upcoming butlers in Thailand and cooks in the United States of America.
Oneil vividly recalls his first interview at age 20 at a well known hotel in Negril Jamaica. The Human Resources manager told him they didn’t employ “unprofessional persons off the road” as butlers.
He was told that the butlers who worked there were well trained by The Guild of Professional English Butlers where they received exceptional training and was also told that he didn’t appear to have the qualities to ever become a butler in his lifetime.
Oneil recalls leaving that interview with a smile and saying to himself: “Man I’m going you prove you wrong”, and he did just that. At that point he was already a Certified Chef and working at restaurants, catering companies and hotels across Jamaica but had big dreams of becoming a butler.
At the age of 21 Oneil got his first international job at The Broadmoor Hotel, the longest-running consecutive winner of both the AAA Five–
There he developed his cooking and butlering skills by working alongside executives from across the globe and interacting with people from various cultures and walks of life.
His warm personality and cooking skills also provided him with the opportunity to train cooks from countries such as South Africa, the Philippines, South Korea,India, Romania, Bulgaria, England and the United States.
Oneil has a natural ability to welcome people and make them feel at home.
Oneil’s former leading chef, Chef Andréa’s Hartman always told him “if you ever get that chance to become a butler you will be a master at it because you have your heart in it.”
After 3 years of dedication and dreaming, Oneil has certainly proven that he is a world class butler. His exclusive clientele now include Presidents, Prime Ministers, Ambassadors, International Celebrities, Hall of Famers, CEOs, Forbes Executives, The Marlboro Man, Master Chefs and the list goes on.
With this experience he has created a federation for butlers around the world call The Federation of International Butlers ( Bringing Butlers together around the world) and has executive members from across the globe.
The October issue of Broadmoor Magazine Colorado recently featured Oneil congratulating him on his tremendous achievements.
At age 24 Oneil Nicholas Linton is now the Caribbean’s first Award-Winning, Trained and Certified 7 Star Butler in History.
