Love of Self Before Reparation
The mental slavery of some black people never ceases to amaze me.
So professor Verna Shepherd chair of the National Commission on Reparation, seems to think that Minister David Cameron whom is expected to visit Jamaica, should apologize for the ills of slavery.
SERIOUSLY madam?
So I suppose Mr. Cameron is responsible for Jamaica being one of the most murderous countries in the world.
I suppose he is responsible for the well over 800 murders that have been committed in Jamaica since the start of the year. I suppose he is responsible for the TRIBAL POLITICS that continues to divide Jamaica.
I suppose he is responsible for our young black men who walk around with their pants well below their waists. I suppose he is responsible for some of our young women becoming baby factories?
I suppose he is responsible for the skin bleaching that has caused so many of us to look more like him, because unfortunately we ‘SHAME A OUR KIND’.
It is amazing how we love to talk about what WE endured during SLAVERY as if any of us directly felt the impact of it.
The hypocrisy is we love to jump on the ‘we are descendants of slaves bandwagon’, yet we do nothing to uplift, educate and elevate ourselves.
I wonder if any of these SLAVES were around today if they would be proud to see what we have become as a race.
We do not teach our children to be PROUD of the colour of their skin. No, we buy them the ‘JORDANS’ and other types of brand name attire. By doing this we let them think that is what RESPECT is all about.
We do not treat our women like the queens they are. NO! They are nothing more than vessels to bear children, and owners of vaginas for the penis of the man.
We do not treat our men like the kings they are, NO! They are our financial providers who ‘betta have HOUSE, LAND, CAR’, before some of us women give them the time of day, and we want to talk smack about REPARATIONS?
Mention Africa to some of us and we turn up our noses, because after all, the only thing some of us know about Africa is what they show on National Geographic or what we see of African children starving, waiting for the white Backra Massa to come to their rescue, and we still have the audacity to talk about REPARATIONS.
I suggest before many of us PIGGY BACK on that very dark part of our history, we begin to stand as PROUD BLACK FOLKS, who fully understand WHO WE ARE, AND OUR WORTH in this vast universe.
‘Skinning out’ in the dance hall, calling each other “my n*gga”, calling our women “b*tches and whores”, calling our men “wutliss and good for nutten”, telling our children that “NUTTEN BLACK NUH GOOD”, does not cut it.
Do not expect Mr. Cameron and other Backra Massa to give us a ‘bag a money’ and think that , that will fix us. The change begins with YOU AND ME, and we could get reparations till Jesus returns, if we do not EMBRACE who we are with PRIDE AND DIGNITY, PLEASE NUH EXPECT ANYBODY ELSE FI DUH IT.
