Where is the Outrage Jamaica?

So the Police Commissioner has said that he is OUTRAGED that another one of his officers was murdered in cold blood by criminals.

I am outraged too.

But my question is this: when does the entire Jamaica, the Police Commissioner, the PNP, the JLP, become OUTRAGED about the cold blooded murders of Jamaicans by said criminals?

How do we continue to go about our business when well over 600 JAMAICAN LIVES have been snuffed out since the start of the year?

I find it amazing that if a white cop hurts a black person in America, on every social media site there is OUTRAGE. Yet in many of these very same forums the silence as it relates to Jamaican lives is DEAFENING? WHY?

Children are being raped, and brutally murdered, the police have said that they have been reports of over two hundred cases of sexual abuse by grown men on underaged agirls, and I have yet to see the OUTRAGE from many quarters as it relates to these matters.

Jamaicans flocked the streets of Downtown Kingston in defense of Vybz Kartel. Prayers and accolades went up for Buju Banton. Put the business of entertainers, and Jamaican elites out there, and everybody and ‘dem granny’ have a comment, but remain silent on the real issues.

We find the time to defend Portia, Andrew, the PNP and the JLP, but are silent on THE REAL ISSUES.

And we have the audacity when Jamaicans play a match against the USA and win to exclaim “We are Proud Jamaicans!”. Yet we remain silent on THE REAL ISSUES.

And those who dare to speak up and speak out come under attack from fellow Jamaicans saying how we make Jamaica look bad.

Truth be told, you cannot blame someone for giving VOICE to the NASTINESS. Blame the ones creating it. They make Jamaica look bad. Blame the politicians for not having the insight needed to see that crime in Jamaica is not just a PNP or JLP problem. It is a Jamaican problem, and supporters from each side blaming the other side WILL NOT FIX IT.

If we are already well beyond the mark of 600 LIVES in the month of July, then GOD help us when we tally those numbers in December.

We talk about which party is going to win the elections, but let us hope that there are enough Jamaicans alive to actually go to the polls when the time comes.
