Bolt Ranked As World’s 2nd Most Marketable Track & Field Star

The world’s fastest man – Jamaica’s Usain Bolt has been listed as the 10th most marketable athlete on earth by sport industry news magazine and blog SportsPro Media.

The criteria used in the rankings are value for money, age and proximity to retirement or decline, the strength and size of the athlete’s home market, charisma, willingness to participate in marketing campaigns, and crossover appeal.

Bolt fell four places after being ranked 6th on last year’s rankings.

Some of his major sponsors currently include, Puma, Hublot, Virgin Media, Regupol, Celcom and Nissan.

  

Canada’s star tennis player Eugenie Bouchard holds the number one spot in this latest ranking.

Second place is held by Barcelona’s Brazilian star Neymar ahead of 21 year old American golfer Jordan Spieth, 20 year old American swimmer Missy Franklyn and Britain’s reigning Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton.

Others ranked above Bolt are: Indian cricketer Virat Kohli , 2014-1025 NBA MVP Stephen Curry, Japanese tennis star Kei Nishikori and British heptathlete Katarina Johnson-Thompson who at 9th is in effect is the most marketable track and field star according to the rankings.

Bolt was named the most marketable athlete in 2011 and is the only person to hold a top ten placement in all rankings since its inception in 2009.
