Unlucky fisherman dies from lightning strike at sea
A veteran fisherman died on Saturday morning (September 6) after he was struck by lightning while at sea.
According to a report from Loop News, two men were aboard a small vessel off the coast of the Rocky Point fishing beach in Clarendon, when a bolt of lightning struck one of the men, 53-year-old Sczelaton Vidal.
Vidal died from injuries he received.
According to his companion, the men had gone to sea early Saturday morning to tend to fish pots.
Vidal was struck by lightning shortly after 9am, he said.
Father of the deceased, Victor Vidal said his son had been fishing for 40 years.
