Jamaica’s national football team have secured yet another high profile practice match with another of the 32 teams set to compete at this year’s FIFA World Cup finals in Brazil.
The Jamaica Football Federation today announced that the Reggae Boyz will face Switzerland in Switzerland on May 30.
It comes 9 days before they meet 1998 World Cup winners France in in Lille on June 8.
Switzerland, currently ranked eighth by FIFA, will contest Group E of 2014 World Cup alongside France, Ecuador and CONCACAF representative, Honduras.
The JFF also revealed the Jamaican team would be making a short two-match Caribbean tour after securing practice matches against Barbados (ranked 166th) and Grenada (134th) away on March 2 and March 5, respectively.
According to JFF president Captain Horace Burrell, “These games against our Caribbean neighbours are also important as they provide vital preparation ahead of the Caribbean Cup due to be played in November this year.”
He also added “We missed our chance of qualifying for Brazil 2014, and in looking back, we have made mistakes and we do not intend to repeat those as we set our goals and plans geared at going to Russia.”
