Consecutive Pit Bull Maulings in Jamaica
A 59-year-old mechanic is currently hospitalized in serious condition after he was mauled by three pit bulls in Port Maria, St. Mary on January 4, 2013.
According to reports, the mechanic was summoned to the premises to carry out work, however when he reached the location sometime after 5 pm, he let himself into the property, and when he walked some distance in the yard, he was then attacked by three pit bulls.
Reports are that the man was viciously attacked by the dogs and he had to ‘play dead’ before the animals stopped their attack.
Later that evening, he was spotted lying injured in the yard, and was rushed to the Port Maria hospital where he required a total of 8 units of blood.
He remains hospitalized in serious condition.
Just last week Thursday (Jan 2,2014) a three-year-old male toddler was mauled by a pitbull in Parry town, Ocho Rios, St Ann.
The toddler who was immediately taken to the St Ann’s Bay hospital was later transferred to the Bustamante Children’s hospital and is now recovering at the hospital.
