Reports are circulating that a 10-year-old schoolgirl was sexually molested by a male student on a Jamaica Urban Transit Company bus in Portmore, St Catherine, on Tuesday.
Based on reports, by The Star the the suspect and the girl were aboard the bus, when the male student asked the young girl to have a seat beside him.
The male student was held by a passenger who later handed him over to the cops.
Despite the reports being circulated, corporate communications manager Clinton Clarke stated that he wasn’t aware of the incident.
However, Clarke said that the lewd behaviour of students on the buses is of grave concern.
Meanwhile, when asked if he normally gets complaints about students misbehaving on the buses, Clarke said yes.
“Their behaviour on the buses is just awful. We need to engage the parents a little more to get these youngsters to recognise that they are not in a world by themselves. We have received complaints about students playing loud music on their phones and that adults do not want to travel with them. We are trying to work with the parent-teacher associations, the schools, and the police, to bring some sanity to the system,” Clarke said.
