Police Officer Attacked by Gunmen while Urinating
A police officer was forced to defend himself against gunmen who attacked him while he was urinating.
The police inspector was driving his private motor vehicle through Spanish Town on Saturday night when he stopped to urinate.
He was then attacked by armed men, and was forced to take measures to safeguard his life.
According to police reports, about 11:33 p.m. the officer stopped along the Spanish Town Bypass, in the vicinity of Food for The Poor, when he was attacked.
The men opened fire at him. He pulled his gun and pointed it in the direction of the men and fired back.
The men ran. Following the shooting, a man was found suffering from gunshot wounds.
He was taken to the Spanish Town Hospital where he died while receiving treatment.
It is still unclear if the policeman was injured in the incident.
The day before, a 23-year-old woman special constable Arianna Henry was gunned down in Portmore, St Catherine.
Reports from the Portmore police are that about 8:45 p.m., Henry was standing at home, along Marine Park, in the company of another police officer, when a Toyota Corolla motor car with armed men aboard drove up and ordered them not to move. Four men alighted from the vehicle and immediately opened fire at the officers hitting Henry in the abdomen.
The police officer who was with her returned the fire and one of the gunmen was shot.
A Bryco Arms 9mm pistol along with a magazine containing nine 9mm rounds of ammunition was seized.
Henry was taken to the Spanish Town Hospital where she died while undergoing treatment.
