Recording artiste Chronixx and Zinc Fence Redemption band, will hit the Reggae Sumfest stage on Saturday, July 27. The budding Reggae star is slated to perform on the event’s coveted International Night 2 alongside International star Miguel, Grammy award winning Damian ‘Jr. Gong’ Marley and crowd pleaser Romain Virgo. Born Jamar McNaughton, Chronixx was introduced to the music industry from an early age through his musician father. His father’s mentorship afforded the youngster the opportunity to observe the behind the scenes work of Norris Man and the legendary Gregory Isaacs. By age 14, Chronixx began producing popular beats while lending his vocals as a back ground singer for artistes such as Jermaine Edwards and Lutan Fyah. It was longtime pal and producer at Zinc fence Records, Teflon who encouraged the then underground singer to take his vocal talent to the next level and record his own tunes professionally. Together the dynamic duo are best known for releasing the hit singles Warrior, They Don’t Know and the chart topper, Behind Curtain.
Jah Cure
International recording artiste Jah Cure will be heading to Japan for the first time this Summer. It will be a heavily anticipated tour and is a major development for the reggae singer because Japan is the world’s second largest music market. “I am looking forward to it, going to the land of the Rising Sun for the first time. I will be there for a number of shows between August and mid-September, and this is great sign of things to come,” he said. The reggae superstar has also re-entered the Billboard Reggae charts with his critically acclaimed World Cry album that shot to #11 last week, and maintained that position this week.
Etana
Etana is happy to announce her first headlining North American tour in support of her critically-acclaimed third studio album Better Tomorrow on VP Records. The reggae songstress kicked off the tour just days ago and will headline shows in over 20 U.S. cities – spanning the South, Northeast, Midwest and Western region. In addition to these more intimate club dates, she will be performing at major stage shows, including Portland’s Northwest World Reggae Festival, FL as well as the Irie Music Festival in Toronto, Canada. Etana will be accompanied by her four-piece band and two back-up vocalists on the road to give fans the ultimate listening experience, which she captured on her latest effort Better Tomorrow. The new album is a marked departure from her previous material, including The Strong One (2008) and Free Expressions (2011), and is a true testament to her evolved sound. Etana’s indomitable spirit and inspiring songwriting uplifts generations both old and new on a Better Tomorrow.
Junior Reid
Jamaican Reggae/Dancehall superstar Junior Reid was a special guest at Jay Z’s Club 40/40’s 10th Anniversary held a few weeks ago in New York City. Junior Reid was “blinded” by paparazzi the moment he graced the red carpet, greeting the fans with his popular “One Blood” slogan. Inside the club paparazzi followed Junior Reid around and got shots of him with Jay Z, Fabulous, Meek Mill in the roped off VIP section. “The party was off the chain, it was slamming. I had a good time at the party. I’ve been to the club before, it’s one of my favorite spots in NYC. It’s been a while since I have been in the hip hop scene and it was good reconnecting and working on some collaborations” says Reid in a recent chat with E Zone. After the party Junior Reid and Busta Rhymes were caught in the studio collaborating on a track. Look out for the upcoming release with Busta Rhymes, Akon, Junior Reid and Movado.
Aidonia
Aidonia’s mega dancehall anthem ‘Tip Pon Yuh Toe’ continues to dominate the #1 spot on several Dancehall Charts and is now being used to headline ‘Summ Fun Party Weekend’ in Trinidad that is already sold out!The fiery dancehall artiste Aidonia is no stranger to dominating dancehall charts. But most recently it seems all of his songs has been dominating not just local charts but also the Caribbean, the US and the UK at large. Aidonia have been in the #1 number one spot for two weeks on two major dancehall charts in Jamaica. In the Caribbean the song has climbed on the Top 10 charts and in the UK and USA. Since the release of “Tip Pon Yuh Toe” the radio stations in Trinidad have added it to all their major playlists.
Eddie Murphy
Superstar comedian Eddie Murphy has teamed up with former gangsta rapper Snoop Dogg to release a single called Red Light’. In the past, Murphy has dabbed in dancehall with ‘I Was A King’ which featured Shabba Ranks. A YouTube video for the song has already received over 200,000 views. Another video uploaded on Worldstarhiphop.com has also received over 280,000 views.

Rapper 50 Cent has been charged with attacking his ex-girlfriend and trashing her Los Angeles condominium recently. City Attorney Mike Feuer said the 37-year-old “In da Club” singer is charged with domestic violence and vandalism. Police say the rapper, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, had fled the scene when they arrived on June 23 at a condo belonging to a woman with whom he has a baby. Police say they found the bedroom door kicked in, and damage totaling $7,100 US. Police also said the woman had been in a three-year relationship with Jackson. If convicted, Jackson faces up to five years in jail and $46,000 in fines.
