Daley and Taylor Lead Windies women to 34 runs win over Sri Lanka

The West Indies women’s cricket team led by strong efforts by Jamaicans Shanel Daley and Stafanie Taylor, beat Sri Lanka by 34 runs to take an unassailable 3-0 lead in the 5-match T20 international series.

The Windies women after being asked to bat posted 145 for 6 from 20 overs at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

The explosive Taylor led the way with an aggressive 75 from just 46 balls. The right-hander who smashed 7 fours and 4 sixes, added 63 runs for the 4th wicket with captain Merissa Aguilleira who made 21.

Deandra Dottin 12 and Daley who made 15 not out were the other leading contributors with the bat.

  

The Sri Lankans in their turn to bat were bowled out for 111 runs in 19.2 overs.

Daley was the pick of West Indian bowlers bagging a career best 5 for 15 from her 4 overs.

She received help form Shakera Selman who took2 for 14, while another three bowlers, Tremayne Smartt, Subrina Munro and Stafanie Taylor, took one wicket each.

Today’s result follows 2 wickets and 6 wickets victories in the opening two matches in the series.

Game four takes place on Thursday at the same venue in Colombo.
