Higher Rainfall Levels Forecast for Jamaica Beginning Monday

Rainfall levels across Jamaica are expected to increase starting Monday, as unsettled conditions take hold.

According to the Meteorological Service, a trough is projected to move into the island’s vicinity early in the week.

That system is expected to linger through midweek, contributing to unstable atmospheric conditions.

Periods of showers and isolated thunderstorms are forecast, with heavy rainfall possible at times.

Northern parishes are likely to be affected, with northeastern areas expected to experience the greatest impact beginning Monday morning.

Meanwhile, southern parishes can anticipate afternoon showers and isolated thunderstorms from Monday through Thursday.

Marine conditions along the north coast are also expected to deteriorate during showers and thunderstorms, prompting caution for fishers and other marine interests.
