Tina Clayton Delivers 10.76 PB for Silver at Worlds
Tina Clayton stormed onto the senior global stage at the 2025 World Athletics Championships, securing silver in the women’s 100m final.
At only 21, the ex-World Under-20 champion produced a lifetime-best performance, clocking 10.76 seconds against some of the sport’s most celebrated figures.
Melissa Jefferson-Wooden of the USA claimed the top prize, flying to a championships record of 10.61 to underline her dominance as America’s premier sprinter.
The bronze went to Olympic champion Julien Alfred of St. Lucia, who stopped the clock at 10.84 to keep Jamaica’s other sprinters behind her.
Clayton, however, became the main attraction of the night.
Boasting lightning-fast starts and a fearless racing style, she faced off against household names including Jamaican icons Shericka Jackson and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce.
Despite the pressure, nerves never seemed to affect her. Jefferson-Wooden blasted away from the blocks first, carving out an early advantage by the 30-metre stage.
Right on her heels were Alfred and Clayton, but the Jamaican youngster saved her best for the closing metres, driving with flawless technique to edge Alfred for second.
Jamaica had entered the showdown with great expectations, but Jackson placed fourth in 10.86 while Fraser-Pryce finished fifth in 11.03.
Through this silver medal run, Clayton confirmed herself as part of the world’s elite and made it clear that Jamaica’s next sprinting force has arrived.
