JLP Criticises PNP’s Manifesto as Flawed and Unoriginal

On Thursday, the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) took aim at the People’s National Party’s (PNP) manifesto, alleging that it contains numerous errors and is filled with “copy and paste” concepts.
Having been the first to unveil its manifesto for the upcoming general election, the PNP released the document on Tuesday evening.
This followed the JLP’s earlier launch of its “record of achievements” publication.
Speaking at a press conference, JLP Campaign Committee Chairman Dr. Christopher Tufton described the opposition’s plan of action as flawed and composed of recycled ideas, which he argued did not strengthen its campaign position.
Among the PNP’s proposals are expanded services funded by the National Health Fund, such as free surgical implants and screenings for citizens aged 60 and above, as well as the introduction of a national maternal and child health programme aimed at lowering mortality rates.
Commenting on the health-related pledges, Dr. Tufton, who also serves as Minister of Health, stated that his team has been working consistently to address major issues within the sector.
According to him, the JLP’s “record of achievements” publication has been receiving a positive response.
He confirmed that the governing party’s manifesto is already prepared.
