Holness Urges Jamaicans to Choose Next Government Based on Performance, Not Tradition
Prime Minister and Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) Leader Dr. Andrew Holness is encouraging Jamaicans to base their decision on which political party should form the next government on performance and achievements, rather than on emotion or tradition.
Speaking in Devon, Manchester recently, Dr. Holness addressed supporters amid intensified campaigning in the lead-up to the September general election.
He emphasised that while the phrase “third term” has been mentioned in recent weeks, he is not asking the electorate to grant the JLP a third term in office.
Instead, Dr. Holness said his appeal to Jamaicans is for a vote in favour of a government that has delivered results.
He stressed that the JLP has a record of achievements from its two terms in office, which he believes provides clear evidence of its performance.
According to the Prime Minister, this record should give the electorate confidence in making a decision to support the JLP.
He urged voters to use credibility as the standard when assessing promises and commitments made by political parties during the campaign period.
Dr. Holness’s remarks come as both major political parties step up their efforts to connect with voters ahead of election day, with messages focused on their respective visions for the country’s future.
