Elaine Thompson-Herah Assisted Off Track at NYC Grand Prix Amidst Injury Concerns

Elaine Thompson-Herah’s participation in the upcoming Paris Olympics is now uncertain following a potential injury sustained during the women’s 100m at the New York City Grand Prix.

The incident has sparked concerns, particularly with the Jamaican national championships looming in less than three weeks.

Thompson-Herah, eyeing an unprecedented third consecutive Olympic 100m and 200m double in Paris, initially appeared strong but finished ninth in 11.48 seconds, showing signs of limping and requiring assistance off the track at Icahn Stadium.

Speculations arose regarding the severity of her injury, dealing a significant setback to Thompson-Herah’s ambitions.

She had been gearing up to defend her titles at the upcoming Jamaica National Championships slated for June 27 at the National Stadium in Kingston.

Following the race, Thompson-Herah took to Instagram, stating, “I felt something uncomfortable as I began to push. I still tried to go, but it got worse. I am awaiting professional advice moving forward. Thanks for your continuous support.”

This marked Thompson-Herah’s first competition since the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, Oregon, where she finished last with a time of 11:30 seconds.
