Shaw Credits Teammates After Winning FWA Women’s Footballer of the Year with Record-Breaking Votes

On Thursday, Manchester City Women and Jamaica striker Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw credited her teammates after being named the Football Writers’ Association (FWA) Women’s Footballer of the Year.

She received a remarkable 53 percent of all votes cast, setting a new record for the highest percentage in the history of the FWA women’s award.

Shaw outpaced colleagues Alex Greenwood and Chelsea’s Lauren James , concluding another outstanding season with 22 goals and five assists before an injury cut her campaign short.

Reflecting on her achievement, Shaw emphasised the importance of her teammates in her success.

“I’ve had a little hiccup, but overall it’s been a good season and I’m happy,” Shaw said at the FWA awards evening.

“I’ve always said that the team makes me look good. I’m playing with world-class players and that makes me look good at the end of the day.”
