Jamaican Quarter-Miler Sean Bailey Signs Professional Contract with Adidas
Jamaican quarter-miler Sean Bailey recently revealed that he has inked a professional contract with sports giant Adidas.
The news comes on the heels of Bailey’s remarkable performance at the 2023 World Athletics Championships held in Budapest, Hungary, last August, where he reached the finals of the 400m event.
Taking to Instagram on Thursday, Bailey shared his elation, saying, “Lost for words. These past two years out of college, I wanted to run track and field professionally. Two years later, I am an Adidas athlete.” The achievement represents a realisation of his lifelong dream.
Emerging from a family deeply rooted in athletics, Bailey is the younger sibling of Jamaican Olympian legend Veronica Campbell-Brown. His journey to this career-defining moment has been marked by dedication and resilience, overcoming numerous hurdles, including injuries.
Bailey’s 2023 season showcased his immense talent and determination. In May, he recorded a personal best time of 44.43 at the Drake Relays, a performance that saw him triumph over the 2012 Olympic champion, Kirani James.
He continued to impress by clinching his first national title at the Jamaica National Championships in July.
At the same championships, Bailey faced off against Antonio Watson, who would later claim victory in the 400m event at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest.
Bailey secured his spot in the final and ultimately finished fifth with a time of 44.96, despite being hampered by an injury that prevented his participation in the 4x400m relay.
Jamaica narrowly missed the podium, settling for fourth place in the relay event.
