Fraser-Pryce Sets Meeting Record in Madrid!
On Saturday Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce displayed her incredible form at the 40th edition of the Meeting de Madrid 2023, a part of the prestigious World Athletics Continental Tour Silver circuit.
The 36-year-old sprinter, who is preparing for the upcoming World Athletics Championships in Budapest, put on a remarkable show in the women’s 100 meters event by shattering the meeting record with a lightning-fast time of 10.83 seconds.
She left her competitors far behind. Jaël Sakura Bestie of the host country secured second place with a personal best of 11.10 seconds, while Fraser-Pryce’s compatriot, Shashalee Forbes, finished close behind with a time of 11.11 seconds.
This outstanding performance also eclipsed the previous meeting record of 10.92 seconds, which had been held by USA’s Barbara Pierre since 2013, further solidifying Fraser-Pryce’s dominance on the track.
Just a few days prior to her triumph in Madrid, Fraser-Pryce won her first 100m race of the year at the Spitzenleichtathletik in Lucerne, Switzerland, with a jaw-dropping time of 10.82 seconds.
With her outstanding performances in Madrid and Lucerne, Fraser-Pryce has undoubtedly emerged as a top contender for the upcoming World Athletics Championships.
