Survey Reveals Netball’s Soaring Popularity as One of Jamaica’s Top Sports!
In a recent sport issues poll conducted by the Association of Media Professionals (AMP), it has been revealed that Netball has emerged as one of Jamaica’s most popular sports, surpassing a perennial top three sport.
The findings bring positive news for the Jamaica Netball Association as they gear up to send the national team to the Vitality Netball World Cup scheduled to take place in Cape Town, South Africa, from July 28 to August 6, 2023.
According to the poll, a notable 13.2 percent of Jamaicans named Netball as their favourite sport.
The breakdown by gender indicated that males accounted for 11.2 percent of the sample, while females constituted 23.3 percent.
The data collection for the AMP poll was conducted between June 13 and 24 and involved respondents aged 18 years and older.
The sample size consisted of 2,660 individuals, with 2,246 participants providing their input.
All 14 parishes in Jamaica were represented, resulting in an 84.4 percent response rate.
Dr. Paul Bourne and Conroy Julian conducted the poll, which carries a margin of error of 2.5 percent.
These findings highlight the growing popularity of Netball in Jamaica and serve as an encouraging sign for the Jamaica Netball Association ahead of their participation in the prestigious Vitality Netball World Cup.
